ZOOM TALK

„KEEPING THE TRADITION“
with Threads of Life Co-Founder William Ingram and Batik Artist Agus Ismoyo

23. November 2021, 10:00 – 12:00

WILLIAM INGRAM is the Co-Founder of Threads of Life, a Bali-based social enterprise that has worked with over 1000 traditional weavers and their families in 50 communities on 12 Indonesian islands since 1997. Through his work he seeks to demonstrate how profitable businesses can have a social mission, how community businesses can be profitable, and how both can be sensitive to the values of indigenous culture.

AGUS ISMOYO is an Indonesian Batik Artist who has explored the traditional collaborative creative process of Javanese batik through 36 years of artistic practice and developed a way of sharing this profound cultural experience to inspire artists from beyond the batik tradition. In his talk, Agus Ismoyo will share a creative process taught through the intangible aspect of batik and give access to the cultural spirit and roots of his art form.
